Job Description

Shop Structural MIG Welder We are the area's leading custom metal fabrication and machine shop. We are strategically located near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, so that we can provide quality products and services to the coal, natural gas, and utility industries in a five-state area.
Key Responsibilities of Shop Structural MIG Welder:
Execute Production Welds :
Perform high-quality MIG (GMAW) welding on structural steel components, handling material thicknesses up to 2 inches.
Blueprint Interpretation :
Read and interpret complex shop drawings, weld symbols, and schematics to establish layout and fitting parameters.
Fit & Assemble :
Position, align, tack, and fit structural components together using jigs, clamps, and hand tools prior to final welding.
Material Preparation :
Cut, grind, bevel, and clean steel pieces to prepare them for optimal weld penetration and finish.
Quality Assurance :
Inspect finished welds for defects, cracks, or spatial inaccuracies to ensure strict compliance with AWS standards and building codes.
Equipment Maintenance :
Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot welding power sources, wire feeders, and shielding gas flow meters.
Required Qualifications of Shop Structural MIG Welder:
Experience :
Minimum of 2-5 years of dedicated MIG welding experience in a structural steel or heavy manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills :
Proficient in structural fabrication techniques, tape measure accuracy, and basic shop math.
Weld Positions :
Proven capability to weld in multiple positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
Physical Stamina :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long durations, and work in a noisy, fast-paced industrial environment.
Testing :
Must be able to pass a standard structural hands-on MIG weld test during the interview process.
Compensation of Shop Structural MIG Welder:
