Job Title:
Welder / Fabricator Job Description This fast-paced welder / fabricator role focuses on MIG and stick welding of various metals to produce high-quality products in a manufacturing environment. You will read and interpret engineering drawings, fit and align components, and ensure precise welds while collaborating closely with other departments to maintain a smooth production flow and meet customer expectations. Responsibilities Perform MIG and stick welding of various metals according to engineering drawings and specifications. Position, fit, align, and weld products based on detailed blueprints and work instructions. Fit and grind manufactured parts, using appropriate grinding tools and quality instruments to ensure accuracy and adherence to tolerances. Primarily perform horizontal MIG welding, with occasional TIG or stick welding as required for specific items. Utilize blueprints to identify and fit components, including measuring and cutting materials when needed. Use tape measures, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure correct fit-up prior to welding. Interpret weld symbols and apply correct welding techniques to meet design and quality standards. Partner with other departments, including production and quality, to ensure smooth workflow and on-time completion of customer orders. Inspect welds and finished components for quality, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to meet specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with plant safety standards. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to plant safety rules. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance weld quality, efficiency, and workflow. Essential Skills 2-5 years of experience in welding within manufacturing or related fields. Strong knowledge of MIG welding techniques and processes. Ability to interpret and apply weld symbols from blueprints and engineering drawings. Ability to pass a weld test demonstrating proficiency in required welding processes. Experience with MIG welding in horizontal positions, with capability to perform stick welding when needed. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and prints for fabrication work. Ability to measure, cut, and fit components accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools. Experience with grinding operations to finish and prepare welded parts. Familiarity with production environments and meeting production schedules. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Schooling or formal certifications in welding are preferred. Minimum of 2 years of welding experience may be considered in lieu of formal welding education. Experience with pressure vessel welding is a plus. Experience with light pipe welding is preferred but not required. Comfort working independently, particularly on smaller maintenance or fabrication tasks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds. Ability to work overtime, including weekends, when required. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a clean, well-organized, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
Multiple shifts are available:
a first shift operating Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with potential weekend overtime; a second shift running Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with overtime potential on weekends and possible required overtime every other Saturday; and a third shift operating Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with voluntary overtime opportunities on Friday nights. Average work hours typically range from 40 to 50 hours per week, with double-time pay for Sunday work and for hours beyond a specified weekly threshold. Second shift includes a small maintenance team structure where independent work is often required. The facility is temperature controlled, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, though some areas of the plant can be loud; hearing and eye protection are required. Uniforms are available through a uniform service for those who wish to use it, but you may also wear your own work clothes. Typical attire includes jeans or work pants, short-sleeved shirts, and steel-toe boots, with cut-resistant gloves required for certain tasks. The environment emphasizes safety and the use of proper protective equipment while supporting efficient production and high-quality welding work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
