Job Description

WELDER - FIRST SHIFT - HIRING IMMEDIATELY POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Perform welding and fabrication of metal components and assemblies used in commercial warming and refrigeration equipment. Ensure all welded parts meet FWE quality, safety, and dimensional standards through accurate interpretation of prints, proper welding techniques, inspection, and adherence to production requirements. Serve as a key contributor within the production team by maintaining weld quality, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings hands-on welding experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform welding of frames and components using appropriate welding techniques in accordance with prints and drawings 2. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accuracy and quality of welds 3. Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures and other tools to ensure proper alignment and fit 4. Spot weld and repair damaged parts or components as needed 5. Inspect materials prior to welding to identify scratches, dents, or imperfections that may affect quality 6. Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of welding equipment on a daily basis 7. Change and handle gas cylinders (Argon & Trimix) safely and as required 8. Use internal computer systems to generate job stickers and track completed work 9. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company standards 10. Follow all safety, quality, and productivity standards established by FWE 11. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines 12. Support cross training and assist in other production areas as needed 13. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement 14. Perform other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in welding techniques and use of welding equipment required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience using hand tools and shop equipment including grinders, drills, plasma cutters, and measuring tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Basic computer skills for job tracking and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment, reliability, and strong work ethic
EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of welding experience and/or formal training required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequent use of hands for handling tools and materials
  • Ability to walk, bend, and occasionally climb or balance
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 35 pounds occasionally
  • Must have close vision and attention to detail
