Job Description
Job Description Job Title Welder Department Production The following activities and responsibilities form the important and critical aspects of the Job Description. However, there will be additional responsibilities associated with the day to day business requirements which will be associated with this position. The principal product area that the employee will be responsible for will be to welding steel, aluminium and stainless steel components and structures for the ground support and access divisions of the business, however, input into other product areas will be required from time to time. Key Tasks Welding of steel, aluminum and stainless steel joints in line with drawings, cleaning of joints and ensuring best practice Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal material by applying appropriate welding techniques Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine welding process Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness Reading and understanding of engineering drawings Cutting stock material to size, to ensure efficient use of materials, to ensure good joint types Suitable selection of welding equipment appropriate to task, including gases and weld wire Assist with in house engineering jobs in particular manufacture and repair of ground support, and access equipment Inspection and identification of stock items which are to be used in fabrication and assembly of Semmco products Use of hand tools and power tool (i.e. drills, grinders and sanders) Assembly of access structures and ground support equipment, and similar products if required Communications Report and liaise with Production Manager regarding: - Work schedule (projects / orders / priorities) - Advise Production Manager or purchasing team of any stock requirement for future use on projects The Production Manager is to be first line manager but the position will involve working closely with other members of the company and following instructions and requests from them, in particular the company General Manager. It is expected that all Semmco Inc employees will act appropriately in all dealings with customers, suppliers, members of the public and other members of staff, to work and communicate in a professional manner either face to face, over the telephone or via written communication (including email) at all times.
