Welder I

POSITION SUMMARY

Welder 1 is responsible for performing basic welding tasks under direct supervision. This role is ideal for those with foundational welding knowledge and a willingness to learn advanced techniques. The Welder 1 will assist in welding projects, focusing on quality and safety, while learning to interpret welding blueprints and other technical documentation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform basic MIG and TIG welding on assigned materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, and ductile iron). Assist senior welders with preparation and fitting workpieces. Follow established procedures and specifications to produce quality welds. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED required. Certification in basic welding techniques or equivalent on-the-job training. Ability to follow written or verbal instructions. Strong willingness to learn and improve.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Basic understanding of MIG/TIG welding. Ability to work in a team environment. Basic problem-solving and time-management skills. Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, or overtime when needed Physical Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs). Comfortable working in a loud, industrial environment with protective gear.
