Welder Essential Functions:
Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded. Maintain, organize, and keep work area and equipment in operating condition. Hand-weld and/or flame-cut equipment to join metal components. Cut and scarf using an oxy-acetylene torch. Structural welding using
FCAW & SMAW.
Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers. Properly assemble and disassemble weld setups. Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches. Reshape metal workpieces to establish specifications. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment. Knowledge and proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass a welding test. Knowledge of TIG welding is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent Two years of experience in a structural welding environment. Ability to pass a Weld Test.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
