This position is ideal for a skilled welder who prioritizes safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork. Success in this role requires strict adherence to ASME code standards and fabrication specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform welding on vessels and related components in accordance with ASME Section VIII , AWS, API, ANSI, and other applicable industry codes. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, isometric drawings, and fabrication layouts. Lay out, fit, and fabricate vessel components and pipe in preparation for welding and installation. Examine welds and workpieces for defects and verify conformance to specifications using measuring tools. Repair defects and discontinuities identified during visual, UT, or X-ray inspection. Perform repairs on vessels or tanks that fail inspection. Operate welding equipment and related fabrication tools efficiently and safely. Use thermal cutting equipment such as oxy-fuel torch and plasma arc equipment. Connect hoses and regulators for oxygen and fuel gas systems safely. Operate forklift, man lift, and scissor lift as needed. Climb ladders and work from scaffolds when required. Report discrepancies and safety concerns to the shop foreman immediately. Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
Qualifications & Skills:
Must be able to pass a 6G Code Welding Test . Proven experience welding vessels to code. Ability to read and build vessels from detailed print layouts. Strong knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards . High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong attention to detail with ability to identify defects and non-conformance issues. Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
