The purpose of the Carbon Steel Welder is to weld and cut carbon steel components using hand welders and automation equipment to include but not limited to a MIG, burn table, Sub Arc and cutting torch to make necessary cuts and fillet welds of fabricated product. Essential Functions Be able to identify and pull the correct materials from list and/or drawings Operates manufacturing equipment such as forming rolls, burning table, contour machine, rotator, SUB Arc, Flux Core manipulator, and Plasma machine Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as flux-cored arc, submerged arc welding, and gas metal arc Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using a hand truck, forklift, or another device Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifies supervisors Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using a broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to maintain a tidy work environment Maintains heat numbers and labels on all domestic material Prepares and performs material fit-ups Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Qualifications:
Education/Certification/Licensure:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Job Knowledge:
Demonstrate knowledge of various metal grades, thicknesses, sizes, and basic welding and cutting processes.
Preferred:
Ability to review and understand basic concepts from material list and/or drawings.
