A Day in the LifeAs a Welder you will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. You will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. You will also inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness. Working individually, you will inspect welding work of others to ensure completeness of work and code compliance. Also flexible to help in various areas of the yard when needed. What Youll DoJoin, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniqueInterpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding processInspect completed welds to determine structural soundnessInspect, repairs, installs, modifies, and performs welds, and maintains welding equipmentMaintain inventory, tools, supplies and work area in an organized mannerMay be required to perform troubleshooting and repairs at customers siteOperate both plasma and flame cutting torchPerforms other duties as assigned Must HavesKnowledge of codes and industry standards applicable to work performedGood at establishing clear directions and lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner. Monitors process, progress and results.
Be able to read and understand floor plans and work orders for projectsAbility to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints required.
Able to work outside in variable weather conditionsAbility to use both manual and power toolsAbility to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth, etc. as it relates to construction and accuracy of specs and requirementsAbility to follow written and spoken instructionAbility to safely perform tasksMaintains current certification through industry standard agency or processHigh school diploma or equivalentPrior experience in the construction industry performing welding and commercial welding new construction and remodel construction requiredAble to read Companys construction documents (provided in English) and provide guidance to construction team to complete necessary work; fluency in spoken Spanish preferredKnowledge of LEAN construction a plus
