Job Overview:
The Pipe Welders is an expert craftsperson (SME) focused exclusively on welding high-alloy materials, critical pressure components, or components requiring specialized processes and zero-defect quality (e.g., X-ray quality).
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Minimum 3 years of industrial construction/maintenance industry experience. Multiple advanced certifications (or ability to certify) in processes for exotic/high-alloy materials. Expert knowledge of advanced welding metallurgy and quality control standards. Demonstrated ability to perform welding that consistently meets 100% radiographic or ultrasonic examination standards. Vocational training or Associates Degree in Welding Technology or Fabrication. Experience using mechanized or orbital welding equipment. Knowledge of Positive Material Identification (PMI) procedures for alloy verification. Prior experience in vessel fabrication, exchanger repair, or boiler work. #LI-DNI #LI-JH2
Key Tasks and Responsibility:
Execute zero-defect, code-compliant welds on exotic/high-alloy materials (e.g.,Chrome-Moly, Stainless Steel, Duplex, Titanium). Lead the setup and management of purging systems, pre-heat/post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), and cleanliness protocols for sensitive materials. Work directly with Welding Engineers and QC to qualify and perform welds under highly restrictive and precise Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS). Perform intricate manual or machine high-purity GTAW on small-bore pipe or vessel repairs. Maintain specialized consumables, ensuring strict control over storage and handling to prevent contamination.
