POSITION SUMMARY
Smith Personnel Solutions is seeking a skilled Mechanical/Welder to perform welding, fabrication, equipment repair, and mechanical duties in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical experience, welding knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints, work orders, and production instructions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform welding using FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Weld steel components according to blueprints, diagrams, work orders, layouts, and written or verbal instructions. Perform welds ranging from simple tack welds to more complex welds in various positions and workspaces. Set up and lay out work using templates and fixtures to modify, fabricate, or repair equipment and components. Operate a variety of air, power, and hand tools, including welding guns, grinders, wrenches, hammers, cutting torches, drills, punches, scrapers, and air arc equipment. Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and overhead hoists when required. Perform basic troubleshooting and mechanical adjustments. Maintain welding equipment and tools by completing preventive maintenance and daily inspection/check sheets. Identify equipment problems and coordinate repairs when necessary. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Ensure all completed work meets required quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mechanical and/or welding experience preferred. Apprenticeship experience is a plus and may qualify for $18-$19/HR. Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, measurements, and work instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to safely use welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. AWS 4G welding qualification skills are preferred/minimum requirement where applicable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working in various positions. Ability to work safely around moving machinery, welding equipment, and industrial tools.
