Norfolk, VA Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced pipe welders to join our team in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping in industrial, shipyard, or manufacturing environments. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, perform high-quality welds, and work safely while meeting project specifications and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform pipe welding using SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), FCAW, and/or GMAW (MIG) processes. Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy pipe in various positions. Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, welding symbols, and specifications. Prepare pipe joints by cutting, beveling, grinding, and fitting materials prior to welding. Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications. Repair weld defects as needed. Operate welding machines, grinders, torches, and other fabrication equipment safely. Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety procedures. Collaborate with pipefitters, supervisors, and other team members to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications:
3+ years of pipe welding experience in a shipyard, industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environment. Proficiency in SMAW (Stick) and GTAW (TIG) welding. Experience with FCAW and GMAW is a plus. Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and isometric drawings. Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping. Ability to pass a pipe welding test, if required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments. Reliable transportation and the ability to work on-site in Norfolk, VA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous shipyard, naval, or marine industry experience. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. AWS Welding Certification (preferred). Experience with pressure piping and structural welding. Familiarity with Navy or military welding standards is a plus.
Pay:
