Job Description

Welder/Fabricator Level II SmartTalent is seeking a skilled and self-directed Welder/Fabricator Level II to support production operations in a growing manufacturing environment. This role performs a wide range of welding and fabrication tasks with moderate supervision, working independently from blueprints while maintaining a consistent focus on quality and productivity. The ideal candidate will have solid technical welding skills, experience with multiple welding processes, and the ability to fit, assemble, and fabricate components with minimal oversight. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in production quality and efficiency while mentoring less experienced team members in a safe, team-oriented workplace.

Paid Weekly, Direct Deposit, Affordable Health Care, Full-Time, Career Advancement Opportunities Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Performs MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses. Independently reads and interprets blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications. Fits, aligns, and assembles components with minimal supervision. Sets up and adjusts welding equipment for different jobs. Performs more complex fabrication tasks including layout and part modification. Inspects own work to ensure it meets quality standards and tolerances. Troubleshoots basic welding and fit-up issues. Maintains productivity standards and supports continuous improvement efforts. Trains and mentors Level I employees as needed. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred. 2-5 years of welding/fabrication experience. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes. Ability to read and interpret detailed prints and specifications. Must have an understanding of the use of various types of equipment and tools common to the welding trade (e.g., mig welder, tig welder, oxyacetylene torch, arc welder, plasma cutter, saw, drill press, grinder, etc.). Required to have an understanding of the characteristics and properties of various metals used in the cutting, forming and welding of objects. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Consistent quality and productivity performance. Effective communication with team members and supervisors. Basic knowledge of welding techniques and tools. Physical Demands May be required to move items up to 60 pounds independently for distances of up to 10 feet. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels. Working Conditions Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron, and boots).
