This is not a general welding position. We are seeking an experienced aluminum welder who understand fabrication, fit-up, assembly, blueprint reading, and manufacturing processes within truck body, trailer, transportation, heavy equipment, industrial fabrication, or similar manufacturing industries. Position Overview The Aluminum Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding aluminum truck body components, structural assemblies, and custom upfit solutions while maintaining Summit's quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced production environment where craftsmanship and accountability matter. Duties & Responsibilities Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminum components and assemblies used in truck body manufacturing and upfit operations Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, fabrication drawings, schematics, and welding symbols Fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld aluminum parts including panels, subframes, doors, structural supports, and custom components Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, grinders, press brakes, saws, drills, and other shop equipment Prepare materials for welding and fabrication processes using hand tools and precision measuring equipment Perform layout, fitting, measuring, cutting, grinding, and final assembly work Maintain weld quality standards and inspect completed work for accuracy and workmanship Work closely with fabrication, production, engineering, QC, and leadership teams to support production schedules and customer deadlines Support continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, quality, organization, and workflow Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and shop procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area Assist with additional fabrication or production support tasks as needed Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of 3 years of recent aluminum welding experience required Experience working in truck body manufacturing, trailer manufacturing, transportation equipment, heavy equipment, industrial fabrication, marine, aerospace, or similar manufacturing industries strongly preferred Strong MIG aluminum welding experience required; TIG experience preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and tape measurements accurately Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication and assembly processes Experience operating fabrication tools, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently Ability to work independently while maintaining production pace and quality standards Strong attention to detail, workmanship, and problem-solving skills Reliable attendance and ability to work in a team-oriented manufacturing environment Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check Starting pay: $25/hour + DOE As an employee-owned company, our employees play an important role in the long-term success of the business.
