$25-$27/hr (DOE) Job Overview We are seeking a dependable Sawyer / Prefabrication Technician to support metal fabrication operations for large industrial boiler and kiln projects. This role focuses on cutting, layout, and material preparation to ensure parts meet precise specifications prior to welding and final assembly. Candidates should be comfortable interpreting blueprints, operating fabrication equipment, and working in a heavy industrial shop environment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate cutting and fabrication equipment to produce parts per drawings and blueprints Cut materials to accurate lengths, angles, and dimensions based on layout requirements Read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and blueprints to determine proper cutting sequences Select, install, and adjust tooling and dies for cutting and forming operations Operate a press brake and other fabrication equipment as required Inspect completed parts to verify accuracy, quality, and tolerance compliance Organize and stage prefabricated parts for welding and final fabrication Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures Coordinate with fabrication and field teams to support efficient project completion Required Skills & Qualifications Experience setting up and operating metal cutting and fabrication equipment Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints Experience preparing parts with precise measurements and layouts prior to welding Press brake operating experience in a fabrication environment Working knowledge of tooling and dies used in cutting and forming Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, twisting, and kneeling Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Preferred Qualifications Experience in a fabrication shop or industrial manufacturing setting Familiarity with boiler, kiln, or heavy industrial equipment fabrication Comfort working around loud machinery and in varying temperatures Strong safety awareness and consistent use of PPE Why Work Here? You'll be part of projects from in-shop fabrication through field installation , working in a hands-on environment where precision, craftsmanship, and safety matter. This role offers steady work, skill development, and collaboration with experienced trades professionals. Work Environment This position is based in an in-house fabrication shop with open bays and active production. The environment can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter, and noise levels are moderate to loud due to equipment operation. Employees are on their feet throughout the shift and regularly handle materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Standard industrial safety practices and PPE are required at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
