Job Title:
Welder/Fitter Job Description This role focuses on structural fitting and welding on large boiler framework components. You will lay out and fit parts according to blueprints, perform MIG welding on a variety of metals, and support pre-fabrication activities in a busy fabrication shop that produces large industrial boilers and kilns. Responsibilities Perform structural fitting on large boiler framework components in a fabrication shop environment. Lay out and fit metal parts accurately according to blueprints and weld symbols. Assist with pre-fabrication work, including drilling holes, cutting parts, and preparing materials for assembly. Safely operate an overhead crane to move and position large components and assemblies. Carry out MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and structural steel in accordance with project specifications. Verify measurements, alignments, and tolerances to ensure high-quality fits and welds. Follow shop drawings, work orders, and safety procedures throughout all fabrication activities. Collaborate with other welders and fitters to complete large boiler and kiln components efficiently and accurately. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience working as a fitter/fabricator in a metal fabrication environment. Proven experience with layout and fitting of metals for structural applications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately. Hands-on experience performing MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and structural steel. Previous fitting experience, preferably within a structural welding environment. Strong understanding of structural fitting practices and fabrication techniques. Ability to use overhead cranes and standard fabrication tools safely and effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in structural welding or heavy industrial fabrication. Familiarity with fabrication of large industrial equipment such as boilers, kilns, or similar structures. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented shop environment. Why Work Here? Most work takes place in the fabrication facility, using overhead cranes, cutting equipment, drilling tools, and MIG welding machines to handle and assemble large structural components. The setting is a busy, industrial environment where you work around heavy steel structures and large equipment, following established safety procedures and shop practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
