Job Description

Job Title:
TIG/MIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on TIG and MIG welding of stainless steel and aluminum to manufacture high-quality, food-grade and sanitary tanks for the dairy industry. You will perform precision welding, grinding, and fabrication using Lincoln and Miller welders, working in multiple positions and contributing to the production of custom stainless steel tanks in a modern, state-of-the-art facility. Responsibilities Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum for the production of tanks in flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead, and other positions. Perform MIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum for the production of tanks in flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead, and other positions. Use Lincoln and Miller welding equipment to complete high-quality, sanitary welds that meet food-grade standards. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, custom fabricate, or grind materials as needed to meet technical requirements and produce a finished welded product. Control the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, distortion, expansion, or shrinking of parts. Interpret and work from basic blueprints and drawings to complete fabrication and welding tasks accurately. Troubleshoot and problem-solve fabrication challenges to ensure parts fit and function as designed. Perform overhead welding safely and effectively as part of tank production. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and properly. Follow all safety procedures, including the use of respirators when required for inner barrel welding. Essential Skills Proficient TIG welding skills on stainless steel and aluminum. Proficient MIG welding skills on stainless steel and aluminum. Minimum of 3 years of TIG and MIG welding experience. Minimum of 3 years of print reading and fabrication experience. Ability to perform welding in multiple positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. Strong fabrication skills, including fitting, clamping, tack-welding, grinding, and basic forming. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to control heat input to prevent overheating, distortion, expansion, or shrinking of welded parts. Ability to problem-solve fabrication tasks and adjust methods to meet technical requirements. Ability to perform safe and effective overhead welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience producing food-grade or sanitary welds for stainless steel tanks or similar applications. Experience using Lincoln and Miller welding equipment. Comfort working with both stainless steel and aluminum materials. Interest in cross-training in other departments to expand skills and responsibilities. Willingness to participate in in-house welding certification programs. Openness to additional training in welding, quality, shop math, and team building through technical school partnerships. Work Environment You will work in a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that is approximately five times the size of the previous location and equipped with an AI-integrated security system. The environment includes a workout facility, a cafeteria with outdoor seating and vending machines, an arcade, a new service center, and restrooms with full-sized showers. Production includes advanced tank work, including diesel and water tanks for military vehicles. The standard schedule is four 10-hour days: 1st shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 2nd shift runs Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. There is no scheduled overtime until fall, with work limited to Monday through Friday, mandatory on Fridays when required, and no mandatory weekend work; there are opportunities for voluntary overtime. The company offers a structured PTO and vacation program: new hires receive 5 paid vacation days and 3 paid personal days (prorated from start date), increasing at 1 year to 2 weeks of vacation and 3 paid personal days, plus 11 paid holidays and a paid day off for their birthday. The attendance policy allows one unexcused call-in and one note per year to excuse an unplanned absence, with clear, progressive steps for additional unexcused days. For inner barrel welding, you will use a respirator and must be able to achieve a proper fit during testing. Dress expectations align with a professional fabrication and welding environment, including appropriate PPE and readiness for shop work with stainless steel and aluminum materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beloit, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
