Welder/Fabricators read blueprints and specifications to layout, fit, and weld structural steel components to precise tolerances. They set up and operate welding equipment, select the right process and settings for the material and joint type, and perform quality checks throughout the job to make sure welds meet code and specification requirements. This role also involves using overhead cranes to move and position materials, along with grinding, cutting, and finishing work needed to complete a piece from raw material to final product. Key Responsibilities Perform a variety of welding processes on structural steel, sheet metal, and pipe components. Fabricate, fit, and assemble steel components per blueprints and weld symbols. Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and industry standards. Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment including press brakes, saws, drills, and grinders. Measure and inspect work using tape measures, calipers, squares, and levels to ensure accuracy. Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move materials safely and efficiently. Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of structural steel welding and fabrication experience preferred. Strong welding skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols. Experience with structural steel fabrication processes including cutting, fitting, and prep. Proficient with measurement tools and basic math. Familiarity with fabrication equipment and shop tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Regular use of hand tools, grinders, and welding equipment.
