Job Summary The Race Marketing Internship will include light office and computer work for assisting with the racing programs daily, plus experience will be offered in various racing departments over the eight-week course. How You Will Create the Extraordinary Set-up and tear down of nightly events; manning sign up tables for handicapping tournaments and other promotions Assist mascot, bugler, commentator etc. with appearances and needs Conduct interviews and get quotes from jockeys and trainers for press releases Write stories for the racing program; send and update results and necessary information for the Website Conduct backstretch tours and assist special groups to the winner's circle; assist with Family Days entertainment and related activities, etc. Interns could accompany race marketing for off-site events and promotions that could include media tours, cross-promotion events at other venues, such as Indianapolis Indians, Hoosier Park, etc. Required to work on big event days, such as Family Days, Indiana Derby, Quarter Horse Days, etc. Duties could increase based on capabilities of individual interns. Performs all other duties as assigned. What You Will Need High school diploma or GED and guest service experience required. Collegiate study in Marketing and/or related field. Must possess strong communication skills, be flexible and detail oriented. Ability to read and write; basic computer knowledge; active listening skills; ability to meet goals and deadlines; knowledge of horse racing terms, betting and programs. Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing License.
