Job Description

The Sierra County Sheriff's office is recruiting for a Corrections- Communications Officer
I-III DOQ.
Minimum Qualifications:
18 Years Old, High School Diploma/Equivalent, Background Check, etc. Paid Academy and Training
DISPATCHER/CORRECTIONS OFFICER I
This is the entry and training level in the Dispatch /Correctional Officer series. Incumbents initially work in a training capacity. Incumbents also learn and perform bailiff duties, maintaining the security of the courtroom and jury panels. As knowledge and skills increase, additional independent responsibilities are expected. After successfully completing the training and probationary period, incumbents are eligible for advancement to the next higher class of Dispatch/Correctional Officer II.
Dispatcher/Corrections Officer II :
This is a mid-level classification in the Dispatch /Correctional Officer series. As knowledge and skills increase, additional independent responsibilities are expected. After the required experience, completing the required training, and demonstrating proficiency to meet the requirements of Dispatch /Correctional Officer II, the employee will be eligible for advancement to the next higher class.
Dispatcher/Corrections Officer III:
This is an upper-level position for this Sheriff/Coroner's staff classification. The Dispatcher/Corrections Officer III is expected to: Thoroughly understand sheriff's office policies, procedures, rules, and laws pertaining to the operation of the Sierra County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Communications Center, Jail, and Temporary Court Holding/Jail Facility. Thoroughly understand the dispatch CAD system. Have a basic understanding of the department's radio system including the communications room and radio repeater systems. Follow both oral and written directions. Observe, remember, and document events accurately. Obtain statements and information from victims, witnesses, and suspects. Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action under all conditions. Write clear and comprehensive reports and properly document CAD calls. Care for and maintain departmental vehicles and equipment. Maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees, county employees, and the public.
