App Commerce Reporting to: cofounder About the Role We are launching a new business unit focused on helping consumer brands build, launch, and operate their own branded shopping apps. This role will lead the full lifecycle of our app commerce service, from product strategy and app development coordination to launch planning, customer acquisition, retention, merchandising, CRM, and ongoing revenue growth, so this leader must be both strategic and highly accountable for business outcomes. We are looking for a senior DTC operator with deep experience in consumer brands, especially across beauty, food & beverage, health & wellness, supplements, and personal care. The ideal candidate has operated multiple brands, built teams from 0 to 1, and can confidently communicate with large corporate clients. Key Responsibilities Lead the buildout of a new App Commerce business unit from 0 to 1, including team structure, service scope, operating process, client onboarding, and delivery standards Develop app commerce strategies for consumer brands, including app positioning, customer journey, merchandising, CRM, loyalty, subscription, retention, and revenue growth plans Oversee the full process from app development to launch and ongoing operations, working closely with product, design, engineering, growth, creative, and client teams Build and manage the operating team responsible for app launch, store management, campaign planning, CRM, content, paid media coordination, and performance reporting Serve as the senior client-facing lead for corporate brand partners, ensuring clear communication, strategic alignment, and executive-level trust Own app sales performance and client success, including revenue targets, retention metrics, repeat purchase rate, customer lifetime value, and commission-based growth Create scalable playbooks for app launch, post-launch optimization, promotional calendars, loyalty programs, push notification strategy, and customer retention Partner with internal business development teams to support pitches, proposals, pricing models, and client expansion opportunities Analyze app performance data and translate insights into actionable growth strategies Build a high-performance team culture with strong accountability, execution discipline, and client service standards Requirements 5+ years of DTC brand operating experience in consumer categories such as beauty, food & beverage, health & wellness, supplements, personal care, or related FMCG categories Multi-brand experience is required; agency, brand portfolio, aggregator, incubator, or holding company experience is strongly preferred Strong 0-to-1 team-building experience, including hiring, process design, team management, and performance accountability Experience working directly with large corporate clients, senior stakeholders, or enterprise-level brand teams Strong understanding of DTC growth levers, including customer acquisition, conversion, retention, LTV, CRM, merchandising, and promotional strategy Ability to manage cross-functional teams across product, design, engineering, creative, media, and operations Strong commercial mindset with the ability to connect strategy, execution, and P&L outcomes Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership and ambiguity Preferred Qualifications Experience with Shopify, mobile app commerce platforms, CRM tools, loyalty platforms, subscription tools, or retention marketing platforms Experience in both startup and corporate environments Prior experience leading a new business unit, service line, or growth function Strong understanding of consumer behavior across beauty, wellness, health, food & beverage, and personal care categories Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is not just a marketer or project manager. This person should be a business builder who understands how to turn a branded shopping app into a real revenue channel. They should be comfortable building the team, managing the client, driving the growth strategy, and being accountable for sales performance. They should have operated DTC brands before, understand how consumer brands grow, and know how to balance brand, product, customer experience, and commercial results.
