Director of Marketing & Development Position Summary The Communications & Development Manager is responsible for developing and delivering strategic messaging that advances KidsFirst's mission and strengthens community engagement. This role oversees marketing, public relations, and event coordination efforts to increase brand awareness, expand the donor base, and deepen relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and supporters. Working closely with leadership, this position manages multi-channel communications, digital platforms, and signature events to ensure consistent, professional, and impactful outreach across all audiences. Key Responsibilities Communications & Marketing Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies, including content calendars for newsletters, e-blasts, annual reports, and campaigns. Manage and grow KidsFirst's social media presence with timely, engaging content. Maintain and update the organization's website and content management systems. Design or oversee the creation of marketing collateral, including print and digital assets (flyers, banners, graphics). Ensure all communications are professionally written, consistently branded, and aligned with organizational messaging. Events Management & Community Engagement Plan and execute fundraising events. Lead event strategy including goal-setting, themes, timelines, logistics, and guest experience. Manage event budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and on-site execution. Coordinate event elements such as ticketing, auctions, and volunteer management. Oversee sponsorship fulfillment, tracking benefits, acknowledgments, and donor stewardship. Prepare event materials and briefings, and manage pre- and post-event communications. Conduct post-event evaluations and implement improvements. Maintain event records, archives, and operational manuals. Donor Engagement & Data Management Support donor cultivation efforts, including individual giving, stewardship, and engagement strategies. Maintain accurate records in the organization's CRM system, including event data, communications, and donor interactions. Generate mailing and invitation lists and coordinate distribution efforts. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field required. 3-5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field. 3-5+ Experience in event planning and fundraising Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of public relations principles, marketing strategies, and digital communications. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across multiple formats and audiences. Experience managing social media platforms and developing consistent content strategies. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Familiarity with CRM systems, email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress). Experience with design tools is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds for event setup and logistics. Additional Requirements Ability to travel locally using a personal vehicle; valid California driver's license, insurance, and clean driving record required.
