Job Description

Position Summary Boys & Girls Club of Stamford seeks a Development Manager to lead annual giving, donor stewardship, event execution and oversight, marketing and communications in support of a growing organization. This role will help turn annual giving and events into a stronger feeder for major gifts by improving segmentation, stewardship, donor follow-up, and year-round fundraising discipline. The Development Manager will oversee fundraising events and coordinate closely with staff, volunteers, board members, and freelancers as needed. In-person is highly preferred. Hybrid is possible. BGCS serves Stamford youth and families by providing a safe place after school, trusted relationships with caring adults, and programs that build academic success, confidence, leadership, and career pathways. BGCS's fundraising case is grounded in a Stamford-specific opportunity gap: opportunity is visible in the city, but many young people cannot access it without support. Core Responsibilities Annual Giving
  • Lead the planning and execution of a year-round annual giving calendar, including year-end, back-to-school, camp, and other targeted appeals.
  • Improve donor segmentation, ask strategy, personalization, and upgrade pathways based on giving history and donor behavior.
  • Track annual giving results and recommend adjustments to increase retention, response rates, and donor upgrades.
  • Partner with the Director of Development on annual fund strategy while owning day-to-day execution. Donor Stewardship and Engagement
  • Manage stewardship communications for annual donors, including new donor welcomes, newsletters, acknowledgment workflows, and impact updates.
  • Identify donors for proactive follow-up based on engagement cues, including first-time gifts, repeat gifts, and increased giving.
  • Coordinate donor tours, recognition opportunities, and targeted outreach that deepen donor understanding and move donors toward stronger long-term support.
  • Help ensure acknowledgments are timely and donor-facing materials are consistent, polished, and mission-aligned. Events
  • Own planning, solicitation, and execution for fundraising events in partnership with internal staff, committees, vendors, and contracted event support.
  • Manage event timelines, sponsorship fulfillment, guest communications, registration workflows, and post-event follow-up.
  • Ensure events are not only successful engagement experiences, but also intentional entry points into the donor pipeline.
  • Contribute to event evaluation and recommend improvements to reduce staff burden and increase fundraising effectiveness over time. Fundraising Communications / Marketing
  • Develop fundraising communications that support annual giving, stewardship, and donor engagement across email, print, web, social media, and event materials.
  • Work from BGCS's message bank and case language to ensure donor communications are consistent, compelling, and Stamford-specific.
  • Coordinate content needs tied to appeals, impact reporting, event promotion, donor recognition, and stewardship. Systems and Coordination
  • Maintain accurate donor and campaign tracking in MyClubHub (Salesforce) and related systems.
  • Support reporting, list management, segmentation, and follow-up processes tied to annual giving and events.
  • Participate in development meetings as needed and help ensure next steps are documented and completed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Development, Director of Grants, CEO, board members, and external partners to keep fundraising activity coordinated and moving. Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit development, annual giving, donor engagement, event fundraising, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success managing fundraising appeals, donor communications, or stewardship programs.
  • Experience planning and executing events with multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and vendors.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to analyze donor data, segment audiences, and improve fundraising performance.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong follow-through.
  • Comfort working occasional evenings or weekends as needed for events and donor activities.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems; experience with MyClubHub, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or similar systems preferred.
Success in the First 12
Months Looks Like:
  • Implement a clear annual giving calendar with multiple targeted multi-channel appeals.
  • Design and execute a segmentation and stewardship plan for annual donors.
  • Plan and execute four special events—gala, 5K race, golf, and breakfast—while improving coordination and individual conversion into donor pipeline.
  • Ensure annual giving and events intentionally feed BGCS's major gift pipeline.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
