Job Description

Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Gulliver Preparatory School seeks a Director of Parent, Alumni & Community Engagement to lead the strategy, systems, and execution of how the School builds and sustains relationships with families, alumni, and key community partners. This role is responsible for developing a cohesive, future-facing engagement strategy that strengthens community, advances a culture of philanthropy, and supports Gulliver's mission during a historic moment — the School's Centennial and The Next 100 Campaign. The Director will serve as the strategic lead and operational owner of parent and community engagement, ensuring that every touchpoint — from supporting the team and the process of onboarding new families to signature events and volunteer leadership — reflects Gulliver's values, reinforces our priorities, and meaningfully deepens connection, trust, and investment in the School. This role blends strategy, relationship leadership, program design, and executional excellence and is ideal for a leader who is both highly relational and highly organized, with the ability to operate at both the big-picture and detail level. Core Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Engagement
  • Design and implement a comprehensive parent, alumni, and community engagement strategy aligned with Gulliver's Strategic Plan, Centennial, and Campaign priorities.
  • Serve as the senior liaison between the School and the Parents Association, Alumni Council, and other key volunteer and constituent groups.
  • Use engagement strategically to support institutional goals including philanthropy, enrollment strength, reputation, and long-term community investment.
  • Identify and develop new engagement models and programs that reflect the evolving needs and interests of our families and alumni. Parent & Volunteer Leadership
  • Recruit, onboard, support, and mentor parent and volunteer leaders-in conjunction with school leadership-across the Parents Association, Alumni Council, and campaign-related committees.
  • Ensure clarity of purpose, roles, expectations, and accountability for all volunteer bodies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for parent and community questions or concerns, escalating when appropriate. Events & Signature Experiences
  • Lead the planning and execution of a strategic calendar of engagement and stewardship events, including but not limited to:
  • New family engagement via advancement
  • Parent coffees and community gatherings
  • Alumni and grandparent events
  • Gala and signature fundraising events
  • Strategic donor, prospects, and volunteer cultivation and appreciation events
  • Ensure that all events are purposeful, mission-aligned, and reflect Gulliver's brand, standards, and values. Stewardship & Development Partnership
  • Support donor stewardship, prospect engagement, and philanthropic strategy.
  • Provide insight into family interests, networks, and relationships to support cultivation and stewardship efforts.
  • Help integrate philanthropy education, service learning, and global citizenship into the broader engagement strategy.
  • Hold an active solicitation portfolio. Communications & Coordination
  • Oversee the development of written, visual, and verbal communications related to engagement, events, and community initiatives.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.
  • Support faculty and staff in navigating parent and volunteer relationships with clarity and confidence. Team Leadership & Systems
  • Manage and mentor engagement and parent relations staff, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes that allow the engagement function to operate efficiently, consistently, and at scale.
  • Track participation, engagement, and outcomes to continuously improve strategy and execution.
