Job Description

Director of Marketing & Communications The Opportunity Are you a bold storyteller and strategic leader who believes the right message can move an entire community to act? Do you see communications not just as awareness but as a catalyst for change? Food Finders Food Bank is seeking an inspiring Director of Marketing & Communications to elevate our voice, expand our reach, and help drive a hunger-free future across North Central Indiana. As Director of Marketing & Communications, you will serve as the architect of how our mission is seen, heard, and understood. Partnering closely with the President/CEO and Chief Development Officer, you will lead a powerful, integrated strategy that fuels engagement, strengthens trust, and mobilizes support across our 16-county service area. This is more than a marketing role; it is an opportunity to shape public understanding of food insecurity, amplify the stories of our neighbors, and position Food Finders as a leading voice for change in the communities we serve. What You'll Do Set the Vision for Brand & Voice You will define and lead a bold, cohesive communications strategy that advances Food Finders Food Bank's mission and elevates its presence across the region. As a steward for our brand, you will ensure every message, internal and external, reflects clarity, purpose, and impact. You will anticipate opportunities, navigate challenges, and position the organization as a trusted and influential community leader. Lead Storytelling that Inspires Action You will transform impact into compelling narratives that connect people to purpose. Overseeing all communications channels, from digital and social media to publications and campaigns, you will ensure our storytelling is authentic, human-centered, and capable of driving engagement, advocacy, and giving. You will build the systems and culture needed to sustain strong, consistent storytelling across the organization. Fuel Fundraising Through Strategic Communications Working closely with Development, you will design messaging that drives results. From donor campaigns and appeals to events and stewardship, you will create experiences that deepen relationships and inspire investment. You will also elevate corporate and cause-marketing partnerships, ensuring meaningful visibility and alignment with our mission. Elevate Media Presence You will lead proactive media and public relations strategies that expand Food Finders' influence and visibility. As a trusted communications advisor, you will prepare leadership for high-impact moments, shape advocacy messaging around hunger relief, and guide the organization through complex or sensitive communications with confidence and clarity. Build & Inspire a High-Impact Team You will lead and develop a growing Marketing & Communications function, mentoring staff and fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will manage key partnerships, resources, and priorities, ensuring the team delivers work that is both strategic and exceptional. What You Bring A deep belief in the power of mission-driven storytelling to create meaningful change. You are a strategic thinker who can translate big ideas into clear, compelling messaging that inspires action. You bring experience connecting communications to fundraising success and organizational growth. You are a confident leader who develops people, builds trust, and drives collaboration across teams. You combine creativity with analytical thinking, using data, and insight to continuously strengthen your approach. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related fields. 10 years of relevant work experience in marketing, communications, or external relations. Demonstrated experience supporting fundraising and development initiatives through communications. 3-5 years of proven experience managing teams. Food safety certification (provided upon hire). An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Why Food Finders? At Food Finders Food Bank, your work will do more than inform—it will inspire, connect, and mobilize.
