Position Summary:
The Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (GCVS) Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships is a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) role responsible for the design and execution of the district's community partnerships and external relationship management. This role bridges legislative advocacy, corporate development, programing expansion, and pursuit of innovative grants to ensure the long-term fiscal resilience and statewide mission-impact of GCVS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Serve as the primary liaison to Massachusetts state legislators, local school district leaders, local municipal leaders, and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as needed. ? Research, navigate, learn, and clearly articulate complex Commonwealth of Massachusetts Virtual School (CMVS) legislation and ideas to a variety of stakeholders. ? Strategically advocate for a permanent fix to the tuition formula under G.L. c. 71, § 94. ? Advocate for virtual education equity and legislative support for innovative school models through positive rapport and establishing long-term credibility with diverse audiences. ? Collaborate with GCVS Board leadership and the Superintendent to identify and activate professional networks and partnerships. ? In collaboration with the SLT, act as the primary architect of the GCVS brand identity, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative to establish the organization as a recognized virtual education leader and go-to resource in virtual education. ? Proactively address potential barriers for GCVS to ensure formal agreements and sustained partnerships. ? Demonstrate with appropriate stakeholders that GCVS is a vital resource for the Commonwealth based on enrollment preferences and the student population GCVS serves. ? Launch a GCVS Alumni initiative to prove institutional return on investment. ? In collaboration with the SLT, seek and secure funds for innovation grants. ? Market and cultivate private-sector sponsorships through the
GCVS 351
Partnership. Design and execute engagement strategies for corporate partners, foundations, and individual donors, transitioning initial introductions into multi-year strategic alliances. ? Collaborate with GCVS social media creators to align messaging, strengthen brand presence, and amplify organizational initiatives. ? In partnership with the Director of Instructional Technology and in collaboration with the Principals, lead the market expansion of GCVS academic courses to external districts for credit recovery, acceleration and enhanced district partnerships. ? In partnership with the Director of Instructional Technology and the Director of Family Engagement, lead the market expansion of potential GCVS community courses for enrichment and non-credit continuing education. ? Other related tasks as deemed necessary by the Superintendent. The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Public Administration, Education, Legal, or Business preferred. ? Minimum of 5 years of experience in development, municipal/government relations, or educational leadership. Experience in the legislative and/or government fields is preferred. ? Strong writing and communication skills, specifically in grant writing and legislative advocacy. ? Existing professional network within the Massachusetts public or private sector.
Location Preference:
Current and continued residency in Massachusetts is mandatory, with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend in-person events as required by the role.
