Job Description

Job Requirements The Development and Communications Officer is a vital component of The Foundation team supporting a variety of key functions of The Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation. Development responsibilities include the identification and solicitation of prospects, community outreach, donor engagement, stewardship support, and volunteer management seeking philanthropic support through our signature and community fundraising events. Communications responsibilities support the fundraising mission and story sharing of University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health through various media platforms. Throughout all projects, the Development and Communications Officer works to incorporate a donor-centric fundraising model and is a critical component to The Foundation's overall goal of expanding its donor base. Manages (identify, engages, solicits, cultivates, and stewards) a prospect pool of individual donors and corporate partners in order to generate philanthropic revenue in support of UM UCH programs. Serves as Foundation point of contact including responsibilities of fundraising, planning, and volunteer management for several UCHF events and third-party fundraising activities. With direction from Foundation leadership, supports the Foundation's annual campaign and grateful patient program with 1:1 outreach to educate and inspire potential prospects, renewed donors, and lapsed donors to serve as advocates, donors, or volunteers. Maintains current and accurate contact, relationship, gift, campaign, fund, and appeal information in Raiser's Edge database. Drafts and provides timely information including meeting agendas, fundraising updates & reports, event sponsorship proposals, and other materials, as requested, to support fundraising requests and volunteer management. In collaboration with the Philanthropy Manager and Assistant V.P, utilizes UCH Foundation's communication platforms and implements communication strategies in a timely manner through print, web/UCHF website, digital and social media as a way to engage donors and donor prospects. In collaboration with the Philanthropy Manager and Assistant V.P., drafts messaging including relevant text and/or graphic content to promote UCH Foundation's mission while also representing UM UCH's brand appropriately. Works and engages with service line and department leads as needed to build relationships for fundraising endeavors. Represents The Foundation at fundraising and donor recognition events. Assists The Foundation as needed at events including event set-up, welcoming guests, and other tasks as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Experience Education & Training :
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing or related field required.
Work Orientation & Experience :
Two to five years of related working experience in fundraising, marketing, or public relations. Development and computer experience strongly preferred. Additional practical experience may substitute for educational requirement.
Skills & Abilities :
Experience with system software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge and experience with Social Media; Canva, and Raiser's Edge software preferred. Attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to maintain confidentiality essential. Compensation Pay Range:
$31.78 - $44.50 Compensation range is typically around $66,000-$70,000
