POSITION PURPOSE
Provides direct administrative support to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and general support to the Communications Department. Serves as the initial point of contact for the news media, school-based staff, and Central Services staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
(KSAs) Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps; Considerable knowledge of a variety of social media platforms and other software applications and services; Excellent customer service skills; Critical thinking and problem solving shills; Ability to multi-task, to handle conflicting priorities efficiently, appropriately, and productively; Ability to handle highly confidential information with an appropriate level of discretion; Ability to work independently and effectively in a deadline driven, rapidly changing team environment; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, parents, students, news media staff, external agencies, external agencies, and the public.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree from regionally accredited college of university; Experience in a communications or marketing environment; Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the CCO and communications director with calendar, general inquiries, and other project support, as needed. Generates correspondence, reports and other documents, as directed. Provides administrative support to the communications team and serves as the initial point of contact for general calls and inquiries. Monitors social media accounts, responds to inquiries, and appropriately routes questions and concerns. Coordinates district response to public record requests. Processes confidential information with an appropriate level of discretion. Publishes a daily media coverage tracking report for district leadership. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a professional office and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, parents, students, news media staff, staff members of external agencies, and the public. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
