Company Description The Nevada Youth Policy Council is a youth-focused organization committed to elevating young people's voices in public policy and community decision-making across the state. Members collaborate with community partners, public agencies, and stakeholders to develop recommendations that reflect the needs and experiences of Nevada's young residents. Role Description The Council Member role is a part-time, hybrid position based in Las Vegas, NV for anyone ages 13-18. Council Members participate in regular council meetings, workgroups, and community forums to review, discuss, and shape youth-related policy recommendations. Day-to-day activities include, but not limited to researching youth issues, gathering input from peers and community members, preparing reports, and contributing to policy proposals and strategic plans. Council Members collaborate with other council members, staff, and external partners, engage in outreach activities, and represent the Council at events, hearings, and stakeholder meetings. The role also involves drafting clear communications, presenting findings, and actively contributing to a respectful, inclusive environment that supports youth-centered decision-making. Qualifications Ability to research, analyze, and summarize information on youth-related issues, policies, and community needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and public statements. Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with peers, staff, and diverse community stakeholders. Interest in public policy, youth advocacy, community engagement, or related fields, with a commitment to equitable outcomes for young people. Organizational and time-management skills to manage meetings, deadlines, and multiple projects in a part-time role. Comfort with public speaking, facilitation, and participating in community events and forums. Ability to work hybrid in Las Vegas, NV, and maintain a professional, respectful, and inclusive demeanor. Prior experience in youth councils, student government, community organizations, or advocacy work is beneficial but not required.
