About the Bard High School Early Colleges The Bard High School Early Colleges are founded on the belief that many high school-age students are eager and ready for the intellectual challenges of a college education. The Bard Early Colleges act on this belief by providing younger scholars with a tuition-free, credit-bearing college course of study in the liberal arts and sciences following the 9th and 10th grades. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. The Bard High School Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work as early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic support. Now in its second decade, the Bard High School Early College network serves over 3,300 students in campuses in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan and Queens, New York; Newark, New Jersey; New Orleans, Louisiana; Cleveland, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; and Washington, DC. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded more than 3,300 A.A. degrees to its early college students.
Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Liaison serves as a critical connection between Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Brooklyn and the greater East New York and Brownsville community. The individual in this position will ensure smooth communication, coordination and support between BHSEC Brooklyn, community services, families, and providers. The Community Engagement Liaison will support the mission of BHSEC Brooklyn and will participate in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the school's family and community engagement strategies and activities.
Key Relationships:
You will work closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and the Parent Coordinator in community outreach efforts. Responsibilities Host and facilitate community networking meetings for a broad range of providers and families involved in the BHSEC Brooklyn Community. Seek and develop collaborative relationships with community networks (in the East New York and Brownsville communities and beyond). Organizes and coordinates community outreach and external relations efforts. Represents BHSEC Brooklyn at community organization meetings, committee panels and task groups as assigned. Works closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Parent Coordinator, Parent Association (PA), and members of the School Leadership Team (SLT) to support communication, coordination, and organization of school events and meetings. Facilitates responsive, accurate, proactive and collaborative communication with the community. Attends and participates in school events, PA meetings, civic association meetings, athletic events and other community functions to maintain visibility and open lines of communication. Maintains and manages official BHSEC Brooklyn Social Media accounts. Builds relationships with external community partners to share resources and foster collaboration; and Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation:
The compensation for this position is a stipend between $15,000-$20,000
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor?s Degree and/or related work experience. Excellent collaboration skills and interest in being part of a team. Strong organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines. Flexibility and ability to manage several responsibilities at once. Strong communication skills and excellent follow-up via email/phone. Experience in accessing and utilizing various forms of Social Media including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok, and X. Interest in working with high school-age students who are also completing a college-level course of study, as well as with faculty and staff in this setting We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to equity and social justice and a desire to open up opportunities for underrepresented students Familiarity with early college programs is strongly preferred Familiarity with the East New York and Brownsville communities is also strongly desired The ideal candidate will be a skilled educator with a demonstrated interest in engaging and challenging younger students with diverse racial backgrounds, economic backgrounds, and a variety of approaches to learning and/or needs for learning supports The ideal candidate will demonstrate a continued interest in the ongoing work in their field The ideal candidate will understand cultural difference and help to uplift ideas from underrepresented groups to improve the equity balance in education The ideal candidate will have a commitment to advancing equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic backgrounds Please apply directly with Bard College / Bard Early Colleges.
