Office of Congressman Joe Morelle Job Description:
Congressman Joe Morelle (D-NY-25) seeks a Community Affairs Liaison to join his Rochester, NY team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, eager to learn, and have a strong passion for public service. They should be a collaborative team player who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable in communicating in forward-facing customer service roles. Ties to Rochester or Upstate New York a plus.
Essential Job Functions :
  • Serves as a liaison with federal agencies to address individual constituent concerns;
  • Answers casework correspondence and meets with constituents as necessary to respond to their inquiries;
  • Maintains accurate and complete files on all assigned casework;
  • Screens and monitors cases to determine if referring the case to other government entities is appropriate;
  • Organizes workload to prioritize tasks in accordance with varying deadlines and ensure work is completed in an efficient and effective manner;
  • Manages a defined community outreach portfolio, serving as the primary point of contact for organizations, stakeholders, and partners within that portfolio;
  • Proactively engages with community partners through regular meetings, events, site visits, and ongoing communication to build and strengthen long-term relationships;
  • Grows the office's presence and visibility within the community by identifying opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and participation in local initiatives;
  • Represents the office professionally at public events as assigned;
  • Assists the Director of Community Affairs and senior staff with other duties as necessary.
  • Job requires some availability on nights and weekends
Salary:
$45,000-$50,000 (Commensurate with experience). This position offers a generous benefits package, including full medical, dental, vision, as well as retirement benefits with a matching contribution.
