Job Description

Community Relations Intern Job Description Job Description:
The participant will work under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and the Community and Crunch Foundation Manager and will assist in activities for the Crunch organization related to community relations.
Objective/Goals:
This internship will provide hands-on experience by working closely with the Community and Crunch Foundation Manager as well as local groups, nonprofits and organizations around Central New York. The intern(s) will be responsible for attending community events, assisting with event planning, and helping with in-game community activations. Chosen candidates will become knowledgeable of the necessary preparation and inner workings of community relations for a professional hockey team.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate the growth of the Crunch Foundation in the greater Central New York area Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating all community relations programs Collaborate in the development and implementation of new community events and initiatives Fulfill internal and community donation requests Assist with game day item auctions hosted through GiveSmart Assist the Community and Crunch Foundation Manager with game day promotions Maintain a current database of local organizations and upcoming events Provide excellent customer service to the Crunch fan base and general public Attend community events, mascot appearances and team outings as necessary Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, communications, business or related field Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Experience in sports preferred, but not necessary Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
Time:
Duration of the 2026-27 Syracuse Crunch season 10-20 hours per week (negotiable) All Syracuse Crunch home games Additional team events (annual holiday party, community events, etc.) as needed
Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. When negotiated with each individual college, credit will be granted. There is parking reimbursement.
