Job Description

JOB Discover Medford:
Employment, Applicant Support, and Benefits within Our Vibrant CityJoin the Medford Police Department as a Community Engagement Officer and make a difference!

In this highly visible role, you will coordinate and support department volunteers, serve as a key liaison with Neighborhood Watch and other community groups, and assist with City-sponsored events and police outreach activities. You will help organize community service efforts, build positive relationships, and communicate effectively with residents, partners, and department staff.

We are looking for an organized, community-minded professional who brings strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in public service. Qualified candidates who enjoy connecting with people, coordinating meaningful programs, and representing the Medford Police Department in a professional and approachable way are encouraged to apply!

Minimum qualifications for this position include: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; andMust be 18 years of age by date of hire with no felony convictions; andPossession of a valid driver's license by date of hire; andSuccessful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.

Preferred qualifications: College courses taken in criminal justice.

Volunteer or job-related experience in community, group, or organizational service activities.

Available schedules: 8 hours daily, Monday - Friday; or4-10 (four 10-hour days with three days off each week)
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position is part of the MPOA employee group. Learn more about our benefits HERE. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $29.76 (first step) to $31.25 or $32.81 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

May be eligible for the following additional pay: English/Spanish bilingual proficiency 4.5%College credits up to 10% for a bachelor's degree
