Job Description

In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Under the direction of the Director of Social Impact, the Social Impact Intern supports the YMCA of Metro Atlanta's volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and impact storytelling efforts. This internship provides hands-on U This is a part-time internship (20-25 hours per week) for a 3-4-month term, with flexibility based on academic schedules and project timelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(including, but not limited to): Volunteer Engagement & Event Support Assist with planning and coordination of corporate partner volunteer activations, including scheduling, materials preparation, and on-site support as needed. Support branch staff and Social Impact team members to ensure volunteer experiences are meaningful, organized, and aligned with community needs. Content Creation & Impact Storytelling Support the development of content for internal and external communication channels, including the YMCA website, social media, Microsoft Teams, and Impact Newsletter. Assist with storytelling efforts that highlight volunteerism, partnerships, and community impact through written content and visuals. Data & Impact Reporting Assist with compiling and organizing volunteer and partnership data. Support the creation of monthly dashboards and impact summaries that track volunteer engagement and outcomes. Stakeholder & Administrative Support Provide administrative support for volunteer and partnership-related meetings, including notetaking, tracking action items, and coordinating follow-ups. Collaborate with internal teams, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to support alignment and shared impact. Ruth Hall Hodges Art Gallery Support Assist with the curation and ongoing management of the Ruth Hall Hodges Art Gallery in collaboration with AUC faculty and students. Help coordinate artwork rotations, maintain stakeholder relationships, and support gallery communications. Through this internship, the Social Impact Intern will gain exposure to: Corporate and community partnership development Volunteer engagement strategy and execution Impact measurement and nonprofit data storytelling Cross-functional collaboration within a large nonprofit organization Community-centered arts and cultural engagement
REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program related to nonprofit management, social impact, public health, communications, arts administration, business, or a related field Ability to commit 20-25 hours per week for 3-4 months Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Collaborative mindset and comfort working with diverse stakeholders Basic data analysis and reporting skills (experience with Excel or Google Sheets preferred) Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams Experience with or interest in social media, content creation, Canva, or email marketing platforms is a plus Interest in community impact, volunteerism, equity, and nonprofit work Physical & Other Requirements Ability to attend occasional in-person meetings or volunteer events at YMCA locations across the Atlanta Metropolitan Area Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods Employment and Benefits package for this job posting is offered through the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc.
