1 to 2 Years Position Summary TekFive is seeking a Communications Systems Specialist (VoIP ) to support NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) in the planning, coordination, and implementation of a campus-wide overhead paging system. This role will help develop and execute the strategy for deploying indoor and outdoor overhead speakers across the AFRC campus while coordinating with network, cable plant, and facilities teams to ensure successful installation and integration. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in VoIP, telecommunications, enterprise networking, audio systems, or low-voltage infrastructure who enjoy working on large-scale communications projects. The Communications Systems Specialist will serve as the technical liaison between multiple organizations and will help ensure the paging system is deployed efficiently, meets operational requirements, and integrates seamlessly with the Center's existing communications infrastructure.Note:
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the implementation of the overhead paging system. The successful candidate will partner with onsite cable plant personnel, network technicians, and facilities staff throughout the installation and integration process and is not expected to perform all physical installation work independently.Essential Responsibilities Assist NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center in planning and implementing a campus-wide overhead paging system. Develop implementation strategies for deploying indoor and outdoor overhead speakers across multiple buildings and exterior campus locations. Coordinate installation activities between cable plant, networking, facilities, and other technical teams. Support integration of overhead paging equipment with existing VoIP and network infrastructure. Review system designs, technical documentation, and installation plans. Participate in system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational acceptance. Track project milestones and installation progress while identifying and resolving technical issues. Maintain project documentation, equipment inventories, network diagrams, and configuration records. Ensure installations comply with NASA standards, customer requirements, and applicable safety regulations. Communicate project status, technical recommendations, and implementation progress to project leadership and stakeholders. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree Experience supporting enterprise communications, telecommunications, networking, or low-voltage infrastructure. Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Voice over IP (VoIP) systems Enterprise audio or public address (PA) systems Network switching and routing Structured cabling or cable plant Telecommunications infrastructure Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and network documentation. Experience coordinating technical projects involving multiple teams. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative government or aerospace environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing enterprise or campus-wide paging or mass notification systems. Experience with Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), or similar VoIP platforms. Experience supporting NASA, Department of Defense, or other federal government facilities. Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals. Familiarity with fiber optic and structured cabling systems. Experience with enterprise audio, emergency communications, or mass notification systems. Project coordination or technical lead experience. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CTS, or similar are highly desirable.
