Clarificion from the agency Open to Current FAA Employees Duties Help The Telecommunicions Specialist performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities. Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge policies and principles relive to a variety of telecommunicion applicions ranging from Internet Protocol (IP) networks, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology, fiber optics, microwave technology, telephone systems and/or Prive Branch Exchanges (PBX) systems. Utilizes telecommunicions experience and knowledge to accomplish assignments and develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies. Understands how this technical area interacts with, or is affected by, other disciplines and considers the objectives of the major subdivision and/or LOB when developing, integring, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems. Performs technical and analytical work pertaining to the planning, development, testing, integrion, installion, utilizion, or modificion of telecommunicions systems, facilities, services, and procedures. Defines, plans and organizes assigned resources for the installion of new or modified hardware/software and telecommunicions systems. Alloces systems resources for accomplishing small work activities within established schedules. Maintains accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment, administers passwords. Maintains integrity of mainframe, hardware, software and/or telecommunicions systems. Monitors assigned systems to ensure they remain in an operional stus. Analyzes problems and restores systems/service. Responsible for system design and integrion; investigion and inspection activities, and compliance and enforcement actions. Designs, develops, monitors, and conducts a variety of technical and operional tests and evaluions of a wide range of communicions equipment, systems, networks, and facilities. Contacts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Contributes to the preparion of management/technical reports or contractual documents, and may communice the overall results of a project or work activity to FAA management, the aviion and aerospace industries, and other external parties. Work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects or activities of one or more organizional units, subdivisions, and LOBs/Staff Offices.
