Development and Communications Coordinator Do The Right Thing, Inc. | Miami, Florida Part-time, 24 hours per week | $25/hour | One-year pilot position with the possibility of continuation Do The Right Thing, Inc. is seeking a creative and resourceful Development and Communications Coordinator to help grow our fundraising, visibility, and community reach. Founded in 1990 in partnership with the Miami Police Department, Do The Right Thing recognizes and rewards students across Miami-Dade County for positive decisions that make their schools and communities safer and stronger while building trust between youth and law enforcement. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how fundraising and communications work together. You will identify and pursue new grants, sponsors, partnerships, and fundraising opportunities while also creating compelling social media campaigns, newsletters, videos, and other content that bring our mission to life. We are looking for someone who brings ideas, spots opportunities, and can turn those ideas into measurable results. What You'll Do Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, corporate sponsorships, partnerships, and giving campaigns. Research and prepare grant applications and manage related deadlines and follow-up. Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective funders, sponsors, and partners. Help develop creative fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies. Create original social media and content campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, and support. Produce engaging photo, short-form video, and written content from program activities and student stories. Manage social media, newsletters, and the organization's content calendar. Create on-brand materials in Canva and track campaign performance to improve future outreach. Support sponsor cultivation, donor communications, impact reporting, and other development and communications initiatives. What We're Looking For The strongest candidate will have experience in both fundraising/development and communications/marketing, or strong experience in one area with demonstrated ability in the other. You should be a strong writer, creative thinker, organized self-starter, and comfortable building relationships and moving projects from idea to result. Experience with social media content creation, Canva, grant or sponsorship research, and email marketing is important. We especially want to hear from candidates who can point to a measurable result they helped produce, such as money raised, a grant won, a partnership secured, a successful campaign, or an audience grown. You must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check. Spanish or bilingual ability and experience with nonprofits, schools, youth-serving organizations, or public safety are strong pluses. Schedule and Compensation This is a part-time, 24-hour-per-week position at $25 per hour , based at our office at the Miami Police Department. The position includes paid time off and paid holidays and offers flexibility around a set weekly commitment. Occasional community and program events are required.
