Under the direction of the Public Information Officer (PIO), the Public Relations & Communications Administrative Specialist is responsible for supporting the communication strategy and public image of Sun 'n Lake by creating digital and print media, capturing high-quality photos and video at events, tracking and analyzing metrics, and other administrative duties that support the Public Information (PI) department. This position requires creativity, initiative, effective cross-departmental collaboration, strong communication skills, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Essential Job Functions (Illustrative Only): Coordinates with other departments on the scheduling and execution of messaging campaigns Collects, manages, and analyzes social media and communications metrics to support the overall PI communications plan Collects, manages, and analyzes performance metrics to support departmental and organizational goals and strategies Attends District events to capture professional photos and videos for promotion Edits and organizes captured media according to District standards Assists the Public Relations Specialist with creating products and organizing content for all communications channels, including social media, newsletters, the District website, event promotions, and digital and print media Assists the Public Relations Specialist with drafting copy and managing and executing messaging templates, including crisis communications Provides administrative and coordination support for communications initiatives Provides general administrative support to the
PIO Knowledge of:
Strong knowledge of public sector communications and media relations Working knowledge of Florida Public Records Law and Sunshine Law Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in sensitive situations Ability to translate complex information into clear public messaging Ability to learn and adapt to new technology and software Proficiency in digital platforms, social media management, and content development tools Graphic design experience (Canva, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere or similar) Strong communication, prioritization and organizational skills Operation and application of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Correct application and use of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Education/Certification/License:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Administration, or related field (Master's degree is preferred) 1+ years of media, communications, content development, or public relations experience Public sector or governmental or non-profit experience preferred This position is primarily office-based with field work and community engagement responsibilities. Typical working hours for this position are Monday-Friday, from 8:00a to 4:30p, however, the position frequently requires attendance at events, meetings, and/or emergency response situations that happen outside or normal operating hours. An ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends is required. As an FLSA non-exempt position, there will be situations where after-hours availability will be required -with eligibility for additional compensation due to non-exempt status. This position is essential for disasters and may be required to report to work immediately following a natural disaster (such as a hurricane).
