The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated Communication Specialists (Dispatchers) to serve as the vital link between the public and emergency responders. In this role, you'll be the voice of reassurance during emergencies and the hub of coordination for law enforcement, medical, and fire services. Why Join Us? Competitive Pay starting at $22.39/hour (higher DOE) Paid Training & Certification including POST Communications Academy County-Paid Travel & Lodging for required training Comprehensive Benefits and retirement options Career Growth in a respected public safety organization Meaningful Work that truly impacts your community What You'll Do Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy Dispatch law enforcement, medical, and all emergency services quickly and accurately Maintain detailed call records, radio logs, and reports Support jail communications and assist with clerical tasks Stay calm and organized in high-pressure, fast-paced situations What We're Looking For Strong communication and multitasking skills Ability to remain calm and focused under stress Computer proficiency and accurate typing (45 WPM minimum) Team player with integrity and professionalism Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License Pass background checks (no felony arrests; no illegal drug use in past 5 years) Typing test required Training & Certification Attend POST Communications Academy in Meridian, Idaho (approx. 2 weeks) within first year Idaho POST requires applicants to have no recent illegal drug use, with strict disqualifiers such as no use of hard drugs (e.g., heroin, meth, cocaine, LSD, PCP) within 5 years and no marijuana use within 1 year before application.
