The Communications Specialist is responsible for all print and electronic communications for the church, making sure all publications are accurate, attractive and professional. Reports to :Senior Pastor Duties and Responsibilities:
Publications ▪ Produce Sunday bulletins in coordination with the ministers and music staff. ▪ Create The Portal, our monthly newsletter, with input from members and others on the staff. Publish it in electronic and print formats. ▪ Put together any special bulletins or documents for weddings, funerals and baptisms. ▪ Design and produce periodic brochures for church Ministries and special programs. ▪ Coordinate special bulletin announcements (Christmas Poinsettias and Easter Lilies). ▪ Support the work of the pastors and the Ministries of the church by making sure all communication is accurate and professional. ▪ Maintain and publish the monthly minutes of ministry meetings and the Council of Elders. ▪ Assemble end of year reports from all ministries and ministers; publish The Peoples Church Annual Report. Electronic and Social Media- Send out Friday all-church emails (Eblast), as well as special emails through our mailing software (Mailchimp).
- Update and manage the church Squarespace website, Facebook page, Instagram, and all other social media platforms. Coordinate with other staff who manage social media for groups.
- Work with the Church Coordinator to keep the REALM database up-to-date
- Update electronic signage and computer monitors in hallways and for the outdoor digital sign.
- Assist with web site maintenance. General Office
- Manage mass mailings for Stewardship and other occasional events.
- Make sure the main office is attractive and welcoming.
- Oversee office supplies (including stamps) and keep the workroom functioning.
- Answer the phone and direct calls as necessary.
- Greet visitors and church members, and respond to requests or needs. Requirements
- At least five years of experience working in communications is preferred; specific training or education in communications is also a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to produce a copy that is accurate and attractive.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to use the full Microsoft Suite (especially Publisher).
- Experience using Adobe InDesign is preferred, but not required.
- Comfort with website design and layout.
- Enjoy working with volunteers.
