Marketing & Communications Specialist Oakwood Country Club - 3.4 Kansas City, MO Job Details Full-time 20 hours ago Qualifications Digital marketing tools Graphic design software Professional art or design Full Job Description Reports to: Corporate Director of Marketing & Communications and General Manager of Oakwood Country Club Job Summary Operates as the on-site marketing department for the club, independently executing the marketing and communications plan set in partnership with the Corporate Director. Owns day-to-day design production, social media, website content, and member communications, escalating strategic decisions, brand questions, and budget items to corporate oversight as needed. Graphic Design & Production Independently designs and produces all print and digital marketing materials — membership brochures, event collateral, signage, menus, tournament materials, and promotional/membership kits — using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools. Manages layout and production of club publications (newsletters, magazine, annual report) from concept through print-ready file. Conducts press checks for high-end print production and manages relationships with local print vendors. Applies corporate brand standards independently, flagging the Corporate Director on any exceptions or new brand applications. Social Media & Digital Content Owns the club's social media accounts end-to-end: content calendar, graphic and short-form video creation, posting, and community engagement. Tracks performance metrics and adjusts content strategy, reporting results to the Corporate Director on a regular cadence. Creates platform-optimized content tailored to each channel's format and audience. Website & SEO Maintains and updates all website content and the online member directory as sole content owner. Applies working SEO practices (metadata, keywords, alt text, site structure) to support visibility, without requiring outside SEO support. Monitors basic analytics (web traffic, engagement) to inform ongoing content decisions. Communications & Editorial Writes, edits, and approves internal and external communications, including newsletters and email campaigns, with final sign-off from the Corporate Director on sensitive or high-visibility pieces. Manages email marketing platform, direct mail coordination, and event promotion calendars independently. Cross-Functional Coordination Serves as point of contact for department heads (Golf, Events, Food & Beverage, etc.) on all marketing needs, translating requests into finished materials without additional design staff. Coordinates the annual golf marketing plan directly with the Golf Professional General Manager. Manages freelance or contract support (writers, photographers, vendors) as needed for overflow work, with Corporate Director approval on spend. Leads local publicity and media relations efforts, with corporate messaging guidance as needed. Administrative Manages advertising sales coordination, billing, and revenue tracking for club publications. Photographs club events for marketing and archival use. Education and/or Experience 2-4+ years of experience in a marketing/design generalist or coordinator role, ideally with experience operating with minimal design support.
MUST HAVE PROFICIENCY
in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and social media management tools. Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress or similar). Strong independent judgment, project management skills, and ability to prioritize across competing deadlines. Comfortable working autonomously while maintaining clear communication with corporate leadership and club ownership. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods. Moderate noise level in work environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends and club events as required. Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
