Job Description
Position Overview:
The Communications and Reception Specialist is a newly created position to provide strategic leadership for all internal and external communications at Buffalo Presbyterian Church (BPC). This individual is responsible for ensuring that the church's mission, vision, and ministries are communicated clearly, consistently, and effectively to members, guests, and the broader community. Through thoughtful communication, the individual will help foster engagement, strengthen relationships, and support the church's mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate demonstrates a vibrant Christian faith, a heart for serving Christ, and a commitment to seeking God's will in all aspects of ministry and daily work. In addition to leading communications, the Communications and Reception Specialist serves as the first point of contact for the church office by providing a welcoming and professional presence. Responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls, greeting visitors, coordinating vendor and delivery arrivals, and providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the church office. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills are essential. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. To maintain organizational policies and avoid conflicts of interest, applicants must not be currently affiliated with Buffalo Presbyterian Church or Buffalo Academy.Responsibilities:
- Recruit, schedule and oversee the worship technology team and all Sunday digital worship elements
- Prepare worship bulletins
- Gather information from various committees to prepare newsletters
- Input and maintain data in the membership database (Realm)
- Update, expand upon, and improve the BPC website, and all social media platforms
- Use Call Multiplier
- Manage church calendar
- Greet visitors
- Answer the phone
- Perform general administrative work for the pastor, associate pastor and committees as needed
- Support committee and church groups as needed
- Prepare sign-ups for church events
- Manage and procure church supplies
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Maintain hard copy and digital files as well as scan files for digital storage
Qualifications:
- Belief in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency with digital media tools. Examples include, but are not limited to: Adobe creative suite, Canva, social media platforms, email marketing, and Realm.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills.
- Ability to manage many projects, think creatively, work as part of a team, meet deadlines.
- A strong sense of confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
- Energy and ability to greet visitors, relocate annual files, and lift boxes up to 15 pounds.
