About the Organization Founded in 1973, Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) multi-service organization supported by government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals. KCS aims to develop and deliver a broad range of social service programs to meet the community's various needs. Position Summary KCS is seeking a creative, organized, and hands-on Communications & Outreach Coordinator to support the execution of the organization's communications, branding, and community outreach efforts. This role will be responsible for creating content, maintaining digital platforms, assisting with fundraising events, and executing grassroots outreach across programs. The Coordinator will work collaboratively across departments to handle day-to-day communication tasks and boost organizational visibility under tight deadlines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Communications & Brand Support
Brand Consistency:
Assist in maintaining a consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all organizational channels and program materials.
Content Creation:
Draft and design promotional materials, flyers, and digital assets for major initiatives, public programs, and advocacy efforts.
Media Coordination:
Assist with media relations by maintaining English and Korean-language media lists, drafting press releases, and tracking media coverage. 2. Digital Media & Content Management
Digital Operations:
Execute day-to-day updates and monitor engagement across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and the official website.
Analytics Tracking:
Gather digital performance metrics to help the team optimize content strategies and increase follower reach.
Newsletter Production:
Draft, assemble, and distribute weekly, biweekly, and monthly digital newsletters. 3. Fundraising & Donor Support
Stewardship Materials:
Draft and edit standard donor-facing materials, including acknowledgment letters, solicitation drafts, and campaign updates.
Database Management:
Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the database, including logging donations and trackingpending commitments.
Event Assistance:
Provide logistical support for planning and executing donor cultivation and fundraising events, including setting up materials and coordinating volunteers. 4. Community Outreach & Engagement
Grassroots Outreach:
Actively represent KCS at community events, resource fairs, meetings, and conferences to distribute materials and raise awareness for KCS programs.
Targeted Engagement:
Help distribute tailored outreach materials to specific target populations and underserved communities.
Data Logging:
Track and document outreach activities and participant numbers to help leadership adjust strategies based on community needs.
Travel:
Travel locally for community engagements, outreach distribution, and events as required. 5. Advocacy & Cross-Departmental Support
Material Drafting:
Support the organization's advocacy efforts by conducting basic research on community trends and drafting initial advocacy or educational materials.
Inter-departmental Coordination:
Coordinate directly with various program teams to gather success stories, updates, and content for organizational communication channels.
Meetings:
Participate in staff meetings and program planning to align daily outreach efforts with broader organizational goals. 6. Grants & Volunteer Support
Grant Administration:
Assist the Grants Management Team (GAT) by gathering program data, photos, and tracking metrics needed for grant deliverables and reports.
Volunteer Coordination:
Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and guiding volunteers or interns assigned to outreach events and community distribution. Education and Experience Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, business, finance, or a related field.
- 0-1 years of experience in non-profit or related work
- Bilingual fluency in both Korean and English is preferred
