Division Communications Lieutenant Schedule:
Days, Nights, and Weekends Position Summary The Communications Specialist is responsible for dispatching and ensuring all transport requests are met in a timely manner, including dispatching 911 calls for service within our seven-county response area. This role strategically relocates System Status Management (SSM) units based on call volume to maximize operational efficiency and coverage. This summary does not negate the employee's responsibility to comply with the current Company Policy Manual or standard work practices as defined by Empress. Duties & Responsibilities Dispatch 911 calls for service efficiently and accurately within our seven-county response area Strategically relocate and post SSM units based on historical and real-time call volume to ensure optimal coverage Handle emergency and non-emergency information via radio and phone Accurately enter information into CAD and dispatch the most appropriate unit Relay information to crews, facilities, management, and other dispatchers on duty Schedule and ensure all transport requests are picked up in a timely manner, communicating any delays to the Supervisor and facility Ensure all crews are accounted for at all times and post units accordingly Compose routine reports and correspondence Follow all safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Perform tasks as instructed by the Communications Supervisor and other duties as assigned Qualifications NYS EMT Certification (preferred) Approved EMD Certification (preferred) High School Diploma or GED Strong written and verbal communication skills Customer service background Minimum Requirements Working knowledge of EMS systems, private ambulance, and medical transportation Proficiency in the duties performed by a NYS EMT Strong communication skills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback Excellent documentation skills Computer proficiency required Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
