Job Summary:
The Public Safety Communications Specialist is responsible for monitoring, responding, and taking appropriate actions for incoming calls for service; process emergency and non-emergency communications, multi-agency radio communications, and provide documentation for these incidents in support of Public Safety operations. Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience:
Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experienceRequirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a New York State Security Guard License Subject to criminal history check, background investigation, and physical examination Relevant combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a dispatching or call center role preferredMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires ability to multi-task during multiple emergency situations Requires excellent customer relation skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer based systems Must be detailed oriented Requires the ability to process and prioritize simultaneous situations Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills Must be available for flexible shift schedulingRepresentative Job Duties:
Answer and document all telephone and multi-agency radio communications; take appropriate action based on the nature of the call. Prioritize and process all calls for service and conduct notifications as required to ensure prompt dispatch of personnel. Monitor duty locations and officer status during critical incidents. Provide additional resources, including dispatching personnel, equipment, and emergency response services as needed. Monitor and operate all electronic security systems. Dispatch appropriate resources to respond to alarms at various on- and off-campus locations based on received data.
