Job Description

Nonprofit seeking a creative and motivated Communications Intern to support our communications/marketing and creative team. Child Development Centers is dedicated to preparing children for lifelong success through high-quality early childhood education and family services. This role offers hands-on experience in researching and developing digital and print content, collaborating on campaign initiatives, and gaining real-world strategic marketing experience in a professional environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Research up-to-date digital trends, news, and relevant stories to incorporate into strategic campaigns. Assist with planning the digital content calendar for social media, web, and email marketing. Create detailed marketing reports for digital assets highlighting traffic patterns, high performance content, target demographics, etc. Capture photos and videos during field trips, classroom activities, other events, etc. Brainstorm and collaborate on visual content designs for social media, email, digital ad, flyers, website graphics, etc. Work within established brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency while implementing new marketing projects. Research community partnership, sponsorship, grant, and outreach opportunities that support organizational visibility and engagement
Qualifications/Requirements:
Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field Basic to intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools Strong attention to detail and creativity Good communication and time management skills Strategic and forward-thinking mindset Must be comfortable working in environments with children and families Portfolio or samples of design work (required)
Preferred Skills:
Experience with video editing (Premier Pro, After Effects, CapCut) Photography or content creation experience Familiarity with social media management and analytics platforms Knowledge of social media trends, branding, and strategic planning Basic

Learning Outcomes:
Real-world experience working on brand projects, paid advertising campaigns, and strategic organizational branding. Exposure to professional design workflows and interdepartmental collaboration. Professional portfolio development spanning across multiple industry digital platforms and formats. Experience analyzing performance data analytics leading to informed marketing decisions and projects. Mentorship and feedback from experienced marketing professionals on skills, development plans, and industry standards.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday with periods of standing, walking and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties. Sedentary work, with occasional lifting and carrying of objects of up to 30 pounds.
