Job Description

Schedule:
Minimum of 20 hours per week, with the ability to work up to 37 hours per week during periods of increased activity, particularly in the weeks leading up to major fundraising events and organizational initiatives. Flexibility in scheduling is required based on event and organizational needs.
Position Summary :
The Communications & Marketing Specialist provides a direct link between YWCA Northcentral PA and its donors, supporters, community partners, and other key stakeholders. This position supports the organization's communications and marketing efforts through social media and digital communications, website management, fundraising and special event support, and the creation and distribution of promotional and marketing materials. Working closely with the Development Director, the Communications & Marketing Specialist will help strengthen the YWCA's visibility in the community, engage current and potential donors and supporters, and promote the organization's mission, programs, services, events, and impact. The successful candidate will be a creative, organized self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an organizational communications plan and communications calendar in coordination with the Development Director. Manage YWCA Northcentral PA social media platforms, including planning, creating, scheduling, and publishing professional and engaging content. Develop social media content that promotes the YWCA's mission, programs, services, events, fundraising efforts, community partnerships, and organizational impact. Monitor social media platforms and help identify opportunities to increase engagement, reach, and community awareness. Create professional marketing and promotional materials using Canva, including social media graphics, flyers, brochures, event materials, advertisements, signage, appeals, displays, and other digital and print materials. Create quarterly newsletters, email communications, and email blasts highlighting organizational programs, impact, events, and opportunities for engagement. Assist in developing communication strategies designed to broaden the reach and impact of YWCA programs and services. Work with the Development Director and program staff to develop brochures, annual reports, newsletters, press releases, appeals, advertisements, displays, and other organizational communications. Work with the Development Director to maintain consistent organizational messaging, branding, and visual identity across communications. Assist with the planning, promotion, coordination, and execution of fundraising, community, and informational events. Assist with donor and community communications related to fundraising campaigns, events, sponsorships, and organizational initiatives. Maintain and update the YWCA Northcentral PA website. Provide additional communications, marketing, and event support as needed, particularly during periods leading up to major organizational events.
Required Abilities and Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong writing and storytelling ability, particularly the ability to communicate organizational impact in an engaging and meaningful way. Proficiency in Canva, with the ability to create professional, visually appealing marketing and promotional materials for both digital and print use. Strong working knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and the ability to effectively create, schedule, and manage organizational content. Understanding of social media best practices, audience engagement, and maintaining a consistent organizational voice and brand. Ability to develop a strong understanding of YWCA Northcentral PA's mission, programs, services, policies, and procedures. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with staff and leadership. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, donors, community partners, funders, and other stakeholders. Flexibility to increase hours during major event preparation periods and other times of increased organizational need.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred. Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, development, or a related field preferred; nonprofit experience is a plus. Experience usingCanvato create professional marketing and promotional materials required. Experience managing organizational or business social media accounts, including content creation and scheduling, strongly preferred. Experience with email marketing platforms and digital communications preferred. Any combination of education and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
