About Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center Founded in 2004, Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (KIAC) envisions a community where everyone, regardless of where they were born, has fair and equitable access to justice and opportunity. Based in Bremerton, KIAC provides families across the West Sound region with wraparound legal and social services that support stability, safety, and long-term community wellbeing. KIAC's work includes immigration legal services, family support services, youth and family programs, medical and dental access support, tax assistance, rent and emergency support, and small business assistance. Through community partnerships and culturally responsive services, KIAC works alongside immigrant communities to navigate complex systems, advocate for their rights, and build collective power. Position Summary The Communications & Development Coordinator supports organizational visibility, community engagement, fundraising efforts, and donor stewardship through strategic communications, digital marketing, website management, and development activities. This position oversees communications planning, social media, email marketing, website content, donor database management, and fundraising event support while helping tell the organization's story and advance its mission. We are looking for someone who is organized, collaborative, curious, and excited about helping tell community stories in ways that support immigrant communities, strengthen relationships, and advance KIAC's mission. What You'll Be Walking Into KIAC is a growing organization with a collaborative, mission-driven team serving immigrant communities across Kitsap County and the West Sound region. This role joins a small Development & Communications team and will help strengthen organizational storytelling, donor engagement, and community visibility. While many communications and fundraising systems are already in place, this position will help continue building consistency, capacity, and connection across KIAC's programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communications & Marketing Develop and maintain a communications calendar to support organizational priorities, campaigns, events, and fundraising efforts. Create and manage content for social media, email communications, and other outreach platforms. Draft newsletters, announcements, and promotional materials in collaboration with leadership and program staff. Manage email marketing systems and listservs, including audience segmentation and distribution. Maintain and update website content to ensure information is accurate, timely, and accessible. Coordinate the collection of stories, photos, and program updates in ways that center informed consent, dignity, cultural responsiveness, and community voice. Monitor communications metrics and provide recommendations to improve engagement and reach. Development & Fundraising Support Maintain donor records and gift tracking within the donor management database. Process donations and prepare donor acknowledgments and stewardship communications. Generate reports, mailing lists, and fundraising data as needed. Support planning and implementation of fundraising events, donor engagement activities, and community events. Coordinate event logistics and develop event-related materials, including invitations, sponsorship packets, programs, and promotional content. Assist with fundraising campaigns, donor outreach, and other development activities. General Responsibilities Collaborate with staff across programs to support organizational communications and fundraising goals. Maintain confidentiality and accurate records. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Commitment to KIAC's mission and vision Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken). Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, community leadership, lived experience, and professional experience. Two years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, nonprofit administration, or a related field preferred. We recognize that relevant experience can be gained through community leadership, volunteer work, lived experience, advocacy, and nontraditional career pathways. Strong writing and editing skills with a commitment to equity-focused, community-centered language. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with social media platforms, email marketing tools, website content management, and databases. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered practices. Proficiency in digital tools such as Canva, WordPress, and social media platforms. Experience working across cultures, languages, and communities with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to learning. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must also have vehicle insurance per Washington state law. Ability to pass a background check indicative of the position requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a nonprofit environment. Experience with donor management systems such as Bloomerang, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms. Experience with Canva, WordPress, or related communications tools. Knowledge of Washington state's advocacy and nonprofit landscape. Physical and Emotional Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to be both stationary and mobile; occasionally lift up to 35 lbs; communicate and manage workflows in person, over the computer and via phone; drive a vehicle to additional events. Occasionally required to climb a small ladder, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision [close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus]. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to discuss and engage with issues related to lived trauma and the immigrant experience. This position is primarily remote work with some approximately 10% in-person. Additional travel in surrounding regions for events and program activities may be required.
