Job Description
Marketing Communications Specialist Position Description The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for telling the Commuting Solutions story through the organization's external communications channels. The role works closely with internal staff, outside partners and consultants to increase awareness and support our mission and services while upholding the Commuting Solutions brand. About Commuting Solutions Commuting Solutions is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 whose mission is to connect people to places in the northwest metro region today and for the future. Areas of Responsibility General Marketing Communications
- Implements an annual marketing communications plan.
- Manages projects to increase brand awareness across all communication channels.
- Develops visual identities, branding and collateral for programs and signature events.
- Builds relationships with external partners through content sharing and supporting other organizations' campaigns.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and best practices in marketing communications, digital media and branding.
- Implements and tracks success of communication tactics and the website through monthly analytics and reports. Website
- Maintains the website and ensures content is accurate, consistent with brand standards and is updated regularly with ADA compliance.
- Implements new content including monthly blog posts, event posts, and new pages for projects. Social Media
- Builds and maintains monthly social media calendar.
- Creates digital assets, content and schedules posts on social media channels.
- Manages social media channels with daily monitoring and engagement with partners and audience to foster positive relationships. Content Creation
- Assists with press releases, media alerts and editorial content.
- Creates content for partnerships, external communication tactics and projects. Email Marketing
- Implements weekly emails and quarterly newsletters and maintains Mail Chimp database. Event Planning
- Plans signature events and membership meetings in conjunction with team members.
- Develops marketing strategies for all events to increase awareness and attendance.
- In partnership with internal staff, support event planning and implementation efforts for community events, Bike to Work Day, Winter Bike to Work Day and GoTober programs. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing Communications, Journalism or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Marketing Communications role.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills, knowledge of AP style preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and ability to communicate professionally with diverse audiences. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of WordPress and SEO.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube) and current social media trends.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics.
- Familiarity with Meta ads.
- Knowledge of email marketing best practices and experience with Mailchimp.
- MS Office Suite proficient.
- Experience with graphic design software, including Canva
- Position responsibilities could change based upon organizational needs.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for business use (mileage is reimbursed).
