Job Description

The New School is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, creative individual to join our Admission Communications team as a Content and Communications Assistant. This position is hybrid, with required on-campus content creation, weekly in-person office time, mandatory staff meetings, and mandatory event coverage. This position is an important, integral part of Admission Communications and Welcome Center work, and essential to the success of Enrollment Management's mission. Our Content Team members connect with and create content for prospective students, applicants, parents, and families on Instagram, ZeeMee, CampusESP, and other communications platforms. They also engage with our audiences at in-person and online events. Importantly, individual Content Creators work independently and collaboratively, contributing to a positive, enjoyable work environment. As a member of the Content Team, the Content and Communications Assistant will operate in a student administrative leadership and creative position, producing high-quality Reels, Stories, and carousel posts ensuring our content meets accessibility standards. The Content and Communications Assistant also designs creatives and both print and digital assets for Admitted Students Days and other large admission events, for various communications platform needs, and at the request of their direct supervisor as well as the Associate Provost for Enrollment Services and Communications and the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management leadership. The Content and Communications Assistant will contribute to content creation and complete additional assignments as needed. Candidates considered for this role will be asked to complete a creative assessment/video editing exercise. Finalists may be asked to provide references who can evaluate qualifications and overall fit for the position. Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will: Produce high-quality Reels, Stories, and carousel posts ensuring our content meets accessibility standards Serve as part of the student administrative management team, working independently and collaboratively with other managers Provide leadership guidance to student content creators, ensuring content meets deadlines and is produced according to best practices Provide updates and platform information and statistics to Welcome Center full time administrative employees, serving as knowledge holders of current trends and use by the incoming class Manage the content team's assignments, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accessibility standards Create content briefs to ensure consistency from project to project Have extensive experience with Premiere Pro and Canva video, photo, and design capabilities Edit and produce multimedia content for different content platforms, including Reels, Stories, and other formats, from video clips provided by Content Creators and Welcome Center administrators Direct, film, edit, and produce multimedia content for our different content platforms, online events, and as needed Research trends and suggest opportunities for use on our social platforms Learn, apply, and educate team members in inclusive and accessible practices in content creation Meet all content deadlines, attend all content team and manager meetings, and represent Admission Communications at in-person and online events Check in daily with our content team and Welcome Center professional administrators on our Slack workspace Be comfortable in front of the camera Create dynamic, authentic, approachable multi-media content for our communications platforms that provides an honest view and personal insight into student life Learn and understand our different audiences and platforms, including prospective students, applicants, parents/families, Instagram, ZeeMee, and CampusESP Enjoy connecting with and assisting our audiences, answering questions about student life and admission processes, and providing support Enjoy collaborating with professional staff and other student team members Contribute to a friendly, fun working environment Be a positive, dependable, professional resource for our team Complete other content creation and review duties as assigned Manage their own time Commit to working 9 hours per week Design creatives and both print and digital assets for Admitted Students Days, Discover Days, and recruitment travel, including postcards, table displays, and posters Design creatives for CampusESP posts, advertisements, and email messaging Design creatives for Slate email messaging Design templates and guides for the Content Team to use in content creation Design sticker GIFs for use on Instagram Fulfill design requests from direct supervisor as well as the Associate Provost for Enrollment Services and Communications and the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management leadership Manage work within Trello and Slack workspace Assist with other duties as assigned Understand this is job position is an important, integral part of Admission Communications and Welcome Center work, and essential to the success of Enrollment Management's mission Our Instagram account is where prospective students, applicants, and admitted students can: Get a glimpse into the daily work of the Welcome Center and Admission Be introduced to our staff working behind the scenes to help them navigate the Admission process Be reminded of important dates and deadlines Get tips on navigating the city See what our student employees are working on in and out of class Our CampusESP platform is where parents, families, and supporters of prospective students, applicants, and admitted students can: Read blog posts written by student content creators, admission counselors, Student Success staff, and CampusESP partners Receive a weekly newsletter digest of blog posts and events Receive one-time announcements delivered directly to their email accounts Be reminded of important dates and deadlines Get a fuller understanding of the admission process and what their student can expect at The New School Our ZeeMee app is where prospective and admitted students can: Build community before arriving on campus Find roommates Connect with each other, Content Creators, and New School staff Rely on Content Creators and New School staff as resources Interact with members, moderators, and admins through posts and chats Ask questions via posts, comments, and/or direct messages Receive important information about enrollment requirements and deadlines Learn about current New School news and Admission events
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at The New School.
Additional qualifications include:
Familiarity with and enthusiasm for social network sites, social media tools, and associated apps and technology Excellent writing and editing skills Strong video editing skills with desire to learn and troubleshoot challenges Impeccable attention to detail and aesthetics Sound judgment Positive attitude Excellent communicator Highly organized--enjoys organization Self-motivated Enjoys assisting others and providing support Able to focus without being distracted by cell phones, personal social media, and competing responsibilities Familiarity with Instagram, Zeemee, and CampusESP Familiarity with Google applications including Sheets, Docs, Forms, and Slides Extensive experience with Premiere Pro and Canva video, photo, and design capabilities Extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign •
Hourly Rate :
$20 per hour •
Work Mode:
